Gin and Tonic the cats & the humans - Introduction

Part 1 Gin and Tonic - morning routine

To do list:

  • Wake up the human at 6:30 am to give us that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • Human is still not awake at 7:00 am so we have to start destroying things around for that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • This is getting outrageous, it's 7:30 am and the human is still asleep so we have to attack vital organs and bite them because WE NEED that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • We fell asleep on the human's legs and chest while waiting for her to wake up ...dreaming of that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • 8:00 oh my dear cat Lord the human is awake, race to the kitchen NOW!

*Where the catnip has the human gone? There is literally no time for washing that face. If we do not get that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish we are not gonna make it through the day.

  • Screaming, yelling, crying, climbing the human, begging for the delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • Stuffing our faces and tummies with the delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.
  • Go poop.
  • Sleep.
  • Jump on human's lap to sleep there and move as much as possible so she struggles to work.
  • Do whatever else cats do.
  • Sleep more.
  • Wait for the next morning to eat the delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.

Part 2 The human

Every day of my life is dedicated to please Gin & Tonic since I adopted them so waking up early in the morning is out of the question. That's a no and I will not surrender my 8 hours sleep not even for that delicious out of this world wet exquisite dish.

Gin and Tonic are my babies. Every day is an adventure with them and I swear to God they understand whatever I am telling them.

Oh, and there is no intimacy left.

No shower without the starring eyes.
No toilet without the scratching claws determined to go through the door if necessary.
No meal without starring in my mouth.
No work without a cat sitting on the laptop and another on my lap.
The list can go on...

Part 3 The other human

The big guy who cries when he sees the brand new couch full of hair and scratches while he massages Tonic and kisses Gin's head.
The big guy who always shares his chicken ham with Gin&Tonic even if it's the last piece.
The big guy who walks with a brush in his pocket just in case something else is covered in hair. *Everything is covered in hair*.
The big guy who whispers when Gin&Tonic are sleeping in the same room with us.

Background

Gin&Tonic are 2 rescue cats adopted to help me deal better with my depression and anxiety. I am a former animal rescue volunteer.  I grew up surrounded by animals and living without them was an absolute terror.

Gin is the Ginger one (in case imagination fails).
Tonic is the black and white one.
Together they complete me (us).

Welcome to Tales with Gin and Tonic - the cats.

  2. I love those comments about big guy and the fur issue. I can totally relate having a Jack Russell dog who's constantly shedding. Sounds like these two felines are giving you some solace in these scary times. Your blog reminds me of a friend's - she and her partner are nuding 60 and the blog was written through the lens of the cat living with people on the cusp of getting elderly. Plenty of personality there as I see in yours! Here's to pets to helping us get through this!

    1. Thank you for this extremely lovely comment and encouragement. I would love to see that blog if you can share it with me. Inspiration is always welcome. That big guy is indeed obsessed with keeping everything hair free but that's just mission impossible. CHeers to pets! Our guardian angels.
